The trip opens in Toronto. You make your own way to the hotel and check in, and the rest of that first day is yours. It is a good afternoon to walk the downtown streets, look up at the towers and eat somewhere you picked yourself. Nothing is scheduled until the next morning, so you can sleep off the flight or stay out late. From Toronto the route runs east over the following days: Niagara Falls, the 1000 Islands, Ottawa, Montreal and a full day in Quebec City.
Overnight in Toronto: Monte Carlo Inn, or a comparable hotel
Breakfast and Dinner
Land in Toronto and travel to the hotel under your own steam. Once checked in, you have the day to yourself.
Overnight at Niagara: the Sheraton on the Falls, or a comparable hotel
Breakfast and Dinner
A guide leads the morning around Toronto, with stops by City Hall, Queen's Park, Chinatown and the university campus. You then ride up the CN Tower to the viewing deck. At 553 metres, it stood as the tallest free-standing structure on earth for more than thirty years. From there the road leads to Niagara Falls, where the Hornblower boat carries you right up to the foot of the cascades and you will be splashed. The boats only sail from the final week of May, so the season matters. You finish at the Skylon Tower deck, with the American and Canadian falls spread out side by side.
Overnight in Ottawa: Four Points by Sheraton Gatineau, or a comparable hotel
Breakfast and dinner
We drive to Kingston and board a boat through the 1000 Islands, an archipelago strung along the St. Lawrence River with the Canada-US border running between the islands. Some carry castles, some hold a single house and a tree. Afterwards we continue to Ottawa, Canada's capital.
Overnight in Montreal: Courtyard Marriott near the airport, or a comparable hotel
Breakfast and dinner
Start with a drive-through of Ottawa that passes Parliament Hill, the Prime Minister's residence and the Rideau Canal, which turns into a long skating rink each winter. After that we head to Montreal, where a local guide shows you Mount Royal Park, the Old Port, Saint Joseph's Oratory and Notre-Dame Basilica.
Overnight in Montreal: Courtyard Marriott near the airport, or a comparable hotel
Breakfast and dinner
Today is a long excursion to Quebec City. Your guide takes you around the old Upper and Lower Towns, the Plains of Abraham, the Citadel, Chateau Frontenac, Place d'Armes and the Parliament and National Assembly buildings. On the return leg we pause at Montmorency Falls, which plunges 83 metres, about 30 more than Niagara.
Breakfast
Make your own way to the airport; the tour ends here. If you have a few minutes, write and tell us how it went. It helps the group that comes after you.
